Tibi Fall 2026: A Journey Through Time
Amy Smilovic, a designer who draws inspiration from the past, has unveiled her Fall 2026 collection, which is a tribute to the transformative power of time and memory. The collection is a result of her deep reflection on Thomas Wolfe's novel, "You Can't Go Home Again," and a trip down memory lane to Savannah, Georgia, before New York Fashion Week.
Smilovic and Traci Bui-Amar, senior vice president of design, delved into their most formative eras: the vibrant '80s with Madonna's spirit, the iconic '90s with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's style, and the yuppie era of college life and 'Working Girl' aspirations. These moments became the muse for a collection that seamlessly blends the past with the present.
The collection features subtle references to these eras, such as the "Carolyn Bessette moments" with all-grey ensembles, including a crewneck dress and a pencil skirt with an extended, cascading side panel, or the strong-shouldered check suiting reminiscent of 'Working Girl'. However, the collection also showcases Smilovic's ethos of reworking the well-known for the now, with light blazers that double as blouses, drop crotch pants in sporty track knit or skirt-meets-pant silhouettes, and plaid shirting designed as halter tops, breezy blouses, or textural shackets.
The collection encompasses fall, a winter capsule featuring sporty nylon skirts with horsehair structured ruffles, and the core offering. Smilovic's keen eye for pragmatic yet playful details is evident throughout, from the sharp-toed slingback pumps with adjustable lingerie straps to the overall aesthetic. The collection is a testament to her ability to blend the past with the present, creating a unique and timeless collection that is both nostalgic and fresh.
